Lesson learned

Plumber has left the building. Lesson learned - fix things BEFORE they fall apart!!!!!  I vaguely remember another plumber telling us to fix a certain faucet/valve/whatever about a year or two ago and us saying "ok, ok, we'll fix it at some point, but not today since we're already dropping lots of money on the current problem."  Then forgot about it until I woke up to today's mess.  Again, lesson learned.

I have this funny image in my mind of me, Jack and Ella all sleeping soundly last night - mouths hanging open, possibly snoring or drooling, oblivious to the water spraying all over the laundry room for what was probably a significant amount of time judging from the amount of water I saw this morning.  Our poor cats were probably completely confused - their litter boxes were full of water by the time I realized what was happening and turned the water off.  They were probably completely traumatized - their little, tiny world was being attacked by a crazed, corroded faucet.

Sigh - oh, well.  It hurt to write that check and it will hurt even more to write the second check later this week when they come back to finish the job.  For now I'm going to put my feet up and (hopefully!!!) watch VCU beat Kansas to make it to the Final Four.  Then I'll roll my sleeves up again and get back to work.  This mess will likely take more than one day to clean up.
