Just a quick post on a few things that have come out of Ella's mouth that I have to write down before I forget them.
I was so focused on my day of bonding with Jack that I neglected to include some hilarious comments from Ella that day. We were relaxing at Union Jack's after the 5K and Jack's hockey game, enjoying the Caps game along with some drinks and appetizers on a very frosty Sunday afternoon. I had just admonished Jack for the amount of barbecue sauce that was smeared across his face.
Me: Jack, wipe your face. It's covered in barbecue sauce.
Jack: (wiping face and grumbling - missing most of the sauce in the process)
Me: How will you ever go on a date with a girl if you've got sauce all over your face?
Jack: (grumbling something about girls and how gross they are)
Ella: When a boy sees me eating wings he'll probably break up with me 'cause I'm so grubby.
Ah, yes. Who needs to pay for entertainment? I've got all I need right here with these two. A short time later we were talking about reprimanding the kids when they do something that we don't like, such as talking back or saying something they shouldn't be saying. Ella's next gem occurred during this conversation . . .
Ella: But why do you get mad at me?
Me: It's not that we're mad at you, but sometimes Daddy and I have to teach you and Jack how to behave in certain situations so that you'll learn how to get through life.
Ella: (sighs) I'm learning how to get through life and it's not easy.
Words of wisdom from a seven year old. No, it's not easy. However, if it were easy, it wouldn't be very interesting, would it?
